Care Instructions
BohoReina jewels are handmade with love and attention to every small detail.
They are made especially for you to adorn and enjoy them constantly; they will love you back for years if you will follow a required minimal care.
STORAGE
-It is highly recommended to store your jewelry in a secure, dedicated jewelry box (like the box your jewels were delivered in), while your jewels are resting keep them in a safe place with no direct light or humidity.
-DO NOT store them in your bathroom- because moisture may speed up oxidation processes.
-DO NOT store them in your wallet- to avoid dust or tarnishing or damage.
-DO NOT shove them under pressure with other pieces- to avoid scratches or wear and tear.
-Use a polishing cloth and gently wipe down your pieces between wear and before storage.
For example if you “party hard” to remove any body oils/chemicals that might have transferred to the pieces and may cause tarnishing during storage.
WEAR
-We recommend not exposing the jewelry to pool or sea water. Water that contains chlorine, salts or chemicals can cause staining or discoloration of metal.
-When you apply sunscreen, creams, hairspray, perfumes, salt/chlorinated water or any kind of chemical products- WAIT, Let them absorb completely and ONLY AFTER that put on your jewelry. (All listed above can cause damage or change in the texture of the metals and stones due to their natural behavior).
-We recommend to take off the jewelry before intense sports activity or moving heavy items.
-We encourage our customers to take off their jewelry while sleeping.
During sleep your jewelry can bend, warp or even break under force. Necklaces or long earrings can kink or snap, rings can bend under pressure.
-DO NOT shower with gold plated jewelry.
-Showering with 925 sterling silver jewelry will not harm the metal, BUT it could induce tarnishing or speed up the oxidation process. Body care and cleaning products when showering may contain chemicals that your jewel won't like. We recommend to remove your sterling silver jewelry before showering.
-Showering with 14k solid gold jewelry will not harm the metal, but it could shrink a bit the sheen, therefore it is not recommended.
CLEANING
-We recommend you to own a good quality polishing cloth to keep your jewelry sparkling when needed.
-Be gentle while polishing chains to avoid stretching or snapping them.
- For 925 Sterling Silver or 14k Solid Gold jewelry you can easily bring their sheen back by using your polishing cloth or some basic home products.
You can place your jewelry in a bowl, and apply some dish soap, baking soda and boiling water.
Let your jewelry sit in the bowl for 5 to 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cold water, and STRAIGHT AFTER DRY it thoroughly with a soft cloth (or polishing cloth), gentle contrasting your cloth on the metal surface and pay attention to the places you wanted cleaned.
- For Gold Plated jewelry, in order to restore shine and clean accumulated greasy dirt use gently a DRY polishing cloth ONLY. It is recommended to avoid all contact with water or chemicals this will eventually cause the gold layer to wear-off faster or completely to your plated jewels.
